MGS Designs, Develops and Tests 4-Wheeled Steerable Running Gear

MGS Incorporated, manufacturer of custom trailers and fuel tanks, has successfully designed and developed a 4-wheeled steerable running gear.

MGS engineers, along with a development team, took concept and turned it into a functional product producing 4-wheeled steerable running gear that can be used with aerospace ground support equipment.

The design, development and testing of the MGS running gear was modeled according to the SAE AS8090 outline. Although the testing was similar to AS8090, not all the modules were needed for the design MGS was asked to supply to our customer. The following are some tests that the running gear completed successfully: 

  • Braking and avoidances with only trailer weight on running gear of approximately 2,700 lbs speeds of (25 – 45 MPH)
  • Braking and avoidances with capacity of weight on running gear to be approximately 10,200 lbs (25 – 40 MPH)
  • Regular asphalt test track driving (30 – 45 MPH)
  • Endurance (durability) test track driving (12 – 20 MPH)
  • Full turn circumference
  • Front axle drag test
  • Park brake holding ability (approximately 15% incline)
  • Extensive pre and post test examinations

 

Seven full days of testing were completed at the Thomas D. Larson Pennsylvania Transportation Institute (LTI) Test Track. LTI is a research center at Penn State University, in State College, PA.

MGS Welcomes Andrew Terry to the Military Products Division!

MGS is happy to announce that Andrew Terry has joined the MGS team recently as an Account Manager in our Military Products Division. Andrew spent the last five years refining and further developing his sales skills in the Real Estate industry. He started his working career in public education as a math teacher, continued on through high school principal and continues to teach adjunct classes for Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.

Andrew likes to streamline the sales process by encouraging full customer interaction to assist with understanding their needs. Andrew’s personal communication and leadership skills outline the parameter of success he is striving to give all customers.  He consistently listens to the customer’s needs and wants and patiently works to review all options to insure their satisfaction.

Andrew represents the rare mixture of advanced education, with a Doctorate in Education from Widener University in PA and successful sales experience in real estate. Andrew’s interests include spending time with his family, making wine, baseball and traveling. 

We are excited to welcome Andy as the new Military Products Account Manager, and look forward to many future successes as a growing company!

CCRX a Huge Success at the 2013 ICUEE Show

The new MGS cable control system showcased at the 2013 ICUEE show and was the center of interest at our display. Cory McQuate, MGS Public Utility Division Manager, stated, “Our current and potential customers were impressed with the flexibility and control afforded by this new system. When you take into account the financial savings of our modular design and the security of total performance documentation, this new package offers what both line crews and fleet professionals have been searching for.”

When asked about the outcome of the ICUEE show, our Public Utilities Sales representative Scott Shelley was very pleased overall with the show, saying, “This year’s ICUEE Show was our best to date with a great deal of traffic and exposure. There was a great deal of interest in our trailers and in MGS Incorporated”.

MGS Incorporated Launches Military Products Division

MGS Incorporated announced today the launch of a new Military Products Division. The Denver Pa. based manufacturer of utility trailers, fuel tanks and other specialized equipment sells and delivers products to the construction, public utility, and equipment rental industries and to the retail consumer market.

According to Phil Hornberger, Vice-president – New Business Development, “We developed the new division in response to growing numbers of requests for military  products from our existing customers as well as almost daily requests from potential customers coming to us with their inquiries about exciting new opportunities.”  “The quality demands required for military products mesh very well with our Quality Management System at MGS. Both the military system and our own quality management protocols require extensive documentation and implementation of exacting quality control standards.”
