UFS will participate in The Utility Expo 2025 show. The show will be held in Louisville, KY from October 7th through the 9th. This year MGS will be displaying an Enclosed Oil Filtration Trailer.

We’ve partnered with Parker to deliver a high-performance transformer and switchgear oil filtration unit. The trailer can be fully customized to meet your specific requirements. Standard equipment includes a 650-gallon tank with a 500/150 partition and multiple flow path options. The system features two-stage filtration, spring-return hose reels, a paddle-wheel sight glass flow indicator, a four-way flow-reversing valve, sample ports, and a user-friendly control panel.

MGS Participates in the Electric Utility Fleet Management Conference

U FS will participate in its 16th Electric Utility Fleet Management Conference (EUFMC) drive through and show. The show will be held in Williamsburg, Virginia on Monday, June 2nd. This year MGS will be pulling its brand new four-reel side-by-side trailer through the drive through presentation.

This cable trailer features a compact, side-by-side design with 40" Ø x 30" W x 2,000 lb. per spindle bar capacity. This unit is designed specifically for up to 750MCM wire but can be customized to meet specific requirements. It features hand adjustable 16" over-spin brakes, an adjustable rear fair lead and an expanded metal floor.

MGS will also be showing a 52" bull wheel tensioner at the booth .

This trailer can handle 96" Ø x 60" W x 12,000 lb. cable reels. Control is supplied by 52" x 12" bull wheels with five 1-1/2" Ø grooves acted on by 16" bronze brake rotors with operator station controls. It also features a five-roller fair lead with quick flip latch to allow left- or right-hand cable lay.

UFS Custom Transport Trailer

MGS announces the delivery of a custom transport trailer to Arizona Public Service designed to transport 55-gallon drums for operations.

This trailer features a two-level deck with an upper area accessible from the side via gates, PVC side storage tubes, rear mounted pad storage rack and removable rear tail gate. The entire deck is coated with anti-skid coating with floor mounted, swiveling D-rings are provided for tie points.

Equipped with twin 7,000lb axles, this trailer is capable of carrying nearly 11,000lbs of payload.

MGS Utility Fleet Solutions Newest Delivery

MGS Utility Fleet Solutions Division Announces its delivery of a 44,000 lb. GVWR, galvanized, tilt-deck equipment trailer. Equipped to carry a payload of over 33,000lbs, this tri axle, air brake trailer can tilt around the geometry of the suspension system touting a virtually maintenance free tilting system. It provides the safety of removing all negative weight transfer to the tow vehicle during loading and unloading. It features fully galvanized construction for longer service life. The running gear consists of three HD 20K air brake axles with HD suspension. Light weight, spring assisted aluminum ramps are equipped with width adjustment and retained by an adjustable chain system that allows securement at any ramp spread. Bed is 22’ flat + 6’ beaver tail with open cleat traction area. This model has an expanded metal center deck with rear bucket rest, entrance ladder, bed mounted, retractable D-Rings and deck side plates. Other tilt deck trailers are available with different deck designs, capacities, and lengths. They can be ordered with both air and electric braking systems. Enhancing Productivity & Safety

Last month, MGS delivered two triple reel turret trailers to Duke Energy's Durham Garage. One of the two trailers was supplied with a newly configured on-board hydraulic system for cable retrieval. Cory McQuate and Kevin Antol made the trip from PA to do an in-service training on the two units. The training was well-attended and we got some new insight on what the changes we made will do to enhance the workers productivity and safety.

We are proud of the excellent equipment the MGS team produced. We anticipate more opportunities to produce quality tools that maintain and grow our infrastructure in the future.

Newly Installed Press Brake - The Safan-Darley E Brake

MGS has recently purchased The Safan-Darley E-Brake Ultra 160-3100NS.

In order to continue the evolution of MGS product fabrication, we have recently purchased and installed a new press brake. The Safan-Darley E-Brake Ultra 160-3100NS was delivered 2/21/24 and is currently undergoing proving at the PA plant.

One of the main features that attracted MGS to this particular machine is its fully electric operation. Some of the benefits are: Elimination of hydraulic oil changes, low noise emission, greater energy efficiency, and faster cycle times. Operator safety is enhanced by a light curtain that senses when the operator’s hands are in the bend area. This machine can exert 160 metric tons over a 10’ working length. It features a four-axis back gauge, a 3D touch screen, and a programmable bending aid.

The addition of this machine will increase press and shear throughput while allowing us to repurpose our smaller press brake machines for punching and forming. We are excited to fully integrate this new tool into our production process and anticipate gains in productivity as a result of this investment.

MGS Prototype 12/8/23

MGS Inc has just placed its first EPT20324 23K capacity telescopic pole trailer with the Pedernales Electric Cooperative located in central TX.

MGS representatives visited the delivery site to perform an in-service on the new unit. This unit is a prototype which is the result of collaboration between MGS and the Cooperative to add features requested from the Operations group. Kevin Cummins performed the in-service and recorded a few more final adjustments to be enacted on future builds. All told, the trailer was well received, and the crew was eager to provide input on how they use the trailer to do their job. We thank all involved for their hospitality and look forward to a growing relationship.
